PestChasers for Vehicle Storage Protection Rodents are especially destructive to cars, trucks and RVs when these vehicles are not used on a daily basis. Stored vehicles are subject to nesting rodents, which may produce extensive damage to hoses, belts, insulation and wiring in the engine compartment and upholstery in the passenger compartment. General Use If the vehicle is stored in a garage, the best approach is to cover the points of entry for rodents. This is usually the garage door. By placing a unit approximately 12 – 18" above the floor, and facing across the doorway or other entry point, rodents will be dissuaded from entering the premises. If the total area is under 800 sq. ft., and there are a minimum of objects behind which rodents can hide to avoid the ultrasound, one or two units may be placed at the 12 – 18" level to protect the entire area. To Protect Vehicle Interiors Place a PestChaser® unit (using an electrical extension cord) inside the passenger compartment, ensuring that the speaker(s) are not directly facing or obstructed by seats or other sound-absorbing materials. The best position would be facing the windshield or other glass surface. For RVs, more than one unit may be required, remembering that ultrasound does not penetrate walls or go around corners. To Protect Engine Compartments Place a PestChaser® unit underneath the engine, with the speaker facing upward into the engine compartment. This will prevent rodents from chewing belts, hoses and wiring and from nesting in the engines of stored vehicles. Important: It is vital that any PestChaser® unit be stabilized, to prevent rodents or accidental contact from knocking the unit over, sending the sound into the floor or into another object and rendering the ultrasound ineffective. It should also be remembered that the speaker(s) should never be covered or obstructed.
